神経痛とは？

    ニューラルジーという言葉は、神経に関する意味の “neuro” と痛みへの感受性を表す “algesia” という二つの単語の組み合わせからなるものです。

    通常、痛みは受容体を刺激することによって起こりますが、神経痛の場合は受容体を刺激せずに、神経の構造や機能に異常があるために痛みが発生します。

    神経痛の種類

    痛みの部位によって大きく2つに分類されます：

    中枢神経痛
    脊髄や脳に起こる神経痛です。

    末梢神経痛
    末梢神経系に発生する神経痛です。

    代表的な神経痛の例としては、

    三叉神経痛
    三叉神経に発生する痛みが、電気ショック感、射出痛、焼けつく感じ、圧迫感などの強い顔面の痛みを引き起こします。

    非定型三叉神経痛
    頬、副鼻腔、額、顎、目の周り、こめかみの痛みと熱感が特徴で、持続する頭痛や、時には電気ショックに似た感覚を伴うこともあります。

    帯状疱疹後神経痛
    水痘ヘルペスウイルスに感染し、帯状疱疹が発生した後に発症する。

    後頭神経痛
    アーノルド神経痛とも呼ばれます。

    舌咽神経痛 舌咽神経の障害により、扁桃やその周辺の喉や舌の奥に痛みを繰り返すまれな疾患です。

    診断と治療

    神経痛は診断が難しいことが多いです。

    この種の痛みは通常の鎮痛剤に反応しないので、神経痛の治療は困難です。 Examples of drugs that are effective include anticonvulsants and antidepressants.
