Daddy long-legs spider
ダディ・ロング・レッグス・スパイダー (Pholcus phalangioides) は、フトモモ科のスパイダーです。 脚の長さは体の5、6倍。 よくオピリオテス科のダディ・ロング・レッグスと混同されるが、ダディ・ロング・レッグスは本当のクモではない。 邪魔になると巣を激しく揺らす習性がある。 これはおそらく捕食者の視界をぼかすためであろう。 部屋や洞窟、地下室の天井にいることが多いので、セラークモとも呼ばれる。 毛深い家蜘蛛や蚊などの昆虫を簡単に捕らえて食べることができる。 餌が少ないときは、自分の仲間を捕食する。 もともと熱帯地方に生息していたため、季節の変化を意識することはないようで、一年中いつでも繁殖している。

A common housespider
The female holds 20 to 30 eggs in her jaws. Spiderlings are transparent with short legs and change their skin about 5 or 6 times as they grow.
Females have a body length of about 9mm, males are slightly smaller.
Crossopriza lyoni and Physocyclus globosis are spiders with a very similar appearance.
