Home Improvement stars Tim Allen, Richard Karn to reunite for building competition

It’s Tool Time on History’s Assembly Required.

Home Improvement stars Tim Allen and Richard Karn are going back into the shop together to be a part of the upcoming History competition series Assembly Required.

「Assembly Required（仮題）」は、全国の優秀なビルダーにスポットを当て、自宅の作業場で、修理が必要な日用品に新しい命を吹き込むために競い合う番組です。 「この新シリーズでは、各出場者が自分の限界に挑戦し、ただ作り直すだけでなく、より良いものを作るための能力と創意工夫を試されることになります。

『Last Man Standing』のアレンが主演と製作総指揮を務め、『Pen15』（『Assembly』のEPも担当）のカーンが司会を務めます。

「現実的に考えて、私たちは使い捨ての社会に生きている」と、アレンは発表文で述べています。

「私たちは、買って、壊して、取り替えて……を繰り返しています。

「私たちは使い捨ての社会に生きています。 だから私は、自分で何かを作り直すことで得られる満足感と誇りを人々に思い出させるために、この番組を作りました」

アレンとカーンは、1991年から1999年まで放映された90年代の主力番組「ホーム・インプロヴィゼーション」を支える便利屋コンビとして知られています。 アレンは、ずっと器用な相棒のアル・ボーランド（カーン）とともに、番組内番組「ツールタイム」のホストであるティム・「ツールマン」テイラーとして出演していました。

2018年には、「ホーム・インプロヴィゼーション」のリバイバルについて会話がありました。 それまで「Assembly Required」が私たちのノスタルジアを満たしてくれることを願っています。 (Insert Allen’s signature grunt.)
